The Ubiqua platform (https://ubiqua.uvic.cat) is a service of the UVic-UCC Virtual Campus. It is a space available for members of the university community and for external collaborators for the creation of online training and collaboration activities. The Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the Legal Framework are the same as the conditions of service of the UVic-UCC Virtual Campus for making services available to each user.

Terms of Service
Standards of behaviour
Each user of the platform is responsible for the use of their identifiers, the content they incorporate and the resources they use. This includes email, messages, forums, wikis and other shared spaces, comments and questions, videos, and files on the platform.
Users have the following duties:
- Use the platform in accordance with these Terms of Service, with respecting for rules governing copyright, protection of honour, privacy and self-image, data protection and other applicable legal regulations.
- Use the services of the platform in a way that cannot damage, overload or impair UVic-UCC computer systems and servers or networks, or interfere with other legitimate uses of the Virtual Campus.
- Refrain from unauthorised access, through intrusion, use of others’ passwords or by other means, to other accounts, to computer systems or connected networks, or to UVic-UCC servers.
- Access items stored on the platform, on the Virtual Campus, on its servers or associated equipment through the express means made available for this purpose.
- Do not indiscriminately and massively download content such as user lists, online documents or aggregated user information.
- Do not misrepresent themselves or operate under a false identity.
The following publication of contents is strictly prohibited:
- Defamatory or threatening content.
- Infringing intellectual property rights.
- Offensive, pornographic, obscene or illegal material.
- Advertising or commercial items.
- Items relating to political activities or movements.
- Items that may damage computer systems, such as viruses, corrupt files, malware, spyware or any other software that may cause malfunctioning.
- Inaccurate or misleading items that could deceive other people.
UVic-UCC has the obligation to carry out appropriate actions to verify the proper use of the platform and may therefore establish the necessary control and penalties for breaches of these Terms of Service and identify those responsible.
User account and authentication
Full participation in the activities of the platform requires authentication. From the personal data a user account (username and password) will be assigned. This account will guarantee the use of all the services to which each user has access depending on their link with UVic-UCC.
No user should disclose or share access data with third parties for any reason. The user is responsible for using accurate and current information when adding optional additional information (for example, a user photo) to their account. Similarly, users undertake to correct, if appropriate, and keep their details available on the Virtual Campus up to date.
All users should provide a personal email address to be used, if necessary, as a contact channel.
UVic-UCC makes available its privacy policy that provides for the use and confidential treatment of personal information and the application of appropriate security measures.
Right to use platform content
Much of the content of the platform is protected by intellectual property law. Unless otherwise indicated, the texts, examinations, videos, images and other teaching materials offered here are for personal use only in connection with the corresponding courses. All rights of the platform and its content are reserved, unless otherwise stated.
Validity of user accounts
All UVic-UCC staff and students of recognised courses or UVic-UCC activities involving the Virtual Campus will have an active account with the platform throughout the period of their association with UVic-UCC.
Other users will have an active account for the duration that is stipulated at the time of registration.
UVic-UCC does not guarantee the future availability of the information and communications contained in the virtual classrooms of the Virtual Campus corresponding to academic activities. It is up to each user to keep their own backup of their communications to the Virtual Campus and other people’s communications, if they want to ensure availability.
Once your personal relationship with UVic-UCC is terminated, your account will be cancelled in accordance with UVic-UCC regulations.
Industrial and intellectual property rights
The name University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia, acronym UVic-UCC, its logos and other identifiers are specific to the institution. No use may be made of these names or marks or of any variant thereof without express consent in writing. The Virtual Campus may incorporate brands or other third-party identifiers that should be equally respected by users.
Free access to the contents of the platform and the Virtual Campus should not be interpreted as granting any licence or right to use a trademark or any other identifier.
Holders of intellectual property rights who consider that their rights have not been respected should inform the UVic-UCC General Secretary (secretarial.general@uvic.cat).
The notification shall include:
- The identification of the work with copyright or, in the case of multiple works in the same place, an identifying list of these works;
- Identification of the subject matter of the offending activity; sufficient details must be included to locate the material (e.g., URL or subject);
- The contact information of the complainant (e.g. e-mail address);
- A statement that the reported use has not been authorised;
- A statement that the information provided is accurate and that the complainant is authorised to act in their own name or for the rights bearer.
Limitations of liability
UVic-UCC and its staff ensure that the Virtual Campus operates uninterruptedly and error-free, that the site is free of viruses or other harmful components. We also ensure the accuracy, integrity, timeliness and quality of the contents of the Virtual Campus. Future availability of current content is not guaranteed.
Virtual Campus users have access, upload and download data from the same Campus or from other indicated places, under their own responsibility and at their own risk. The user is solely responsible for any damage to their property, including their computer devices, or for the loss of data resulting from the use of the Virtual Campus.
Once an activity is completed, documents and materials from the corresponding virtual classrooms will be removed. It is the responsibility of registered users to have downloaded the material that is of interest to them. UVic-UCC has no obligation to retrieve or send material that is no longer accessible in the Virtual Campus.
Conditions of service of the Virtual Campus
Use of the Virtual Campus gives access to content published by other users. Each user will be responsible for the accuracy, usefulness, reliability and intellectual property rights of the material published in the Virtual Campus. Users who consider themselves harmed by actions of other users, such as inaccurate, offensive or defamatory information, should communicate this to the administrators of the Virtual Campus. Before such communication in no case will UVic-UCC be held liable for the disclosure of these contents. In no case does UVic-UCC or staff who provide services through the Virtual Campus support the opinions, recommendations and advice expressed in the Virtual Campus by users.
UVic-UCC reserves the right to review the publications of users and to delete, in part or in their entirety, any publication that it considers contrary to the values of UVic-UCC or current regulations.
Limitation of liability for links
Ubiqua may include links to other websites maintained or controlled by other entities. UVic-UCC is not responsible for the products or services offered there. Access to linked websites of third parties is the responsibility of the user.
Completion or alteration of Ubiqua services
UVic-UCC may cancel access to Ubiqua or suspend participation, partially or completely, due to non-compliance with these terms of service or other causes of non-compliance with UVic-UCC. It is tUVic-UCC policy to cancel the accounts of Ubiqua users who have repeatedly infringed copyright. UVic-UCC reserves the right, at any time and at its discretion, to cancel, reschedule or alter the format of any course or service offered by UVic-UCC through the Virtual Campus, or to cease to provide any part or all the content of the site or related services without this action giving rise to any obligation towards users of the Virtual Campus.
Privacy policy
Usernames and notices
The information and comments that each user publishes on forums, wikis and other channels of the Ubiqua platform designed for public communications or communications between members of the group will be accessible to other users of the platform. For this reason, it is important to publish only essential personal information.
Consent to data processing
By using Ubiqua, the user accepts the collection, use, disclosure and retention of their personal information for the purposes of the management of the platform and the management and organisation of the services offered by UVic-UCC. The personal data of users is contained in UVic-UCC files referred to when your UVic-UCC account was set up. User rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition to data treatment recognised by law is managed through the Preferences section of this platform.
Information collected and used
Personal information is collected when someone signs up for the Virtual Campus, participates in online courses, sends emails or participates in forums and other communication spaces of the virtual learning platforms of UVic-UCC. Some usage information on student performance and learning patterns is also collected. In addition, information such as which pages are visited, the order in which they have been visited, when they have been visited, and which links and other user interface controls have been used, is monitored.
Our ICT Unit can register your IP address, operating system and browser software and, in some cases, from an IP address, your internet service provider and your geographic location. This information is collected with various web analytics tools. A part is collected through cookies (small text files located on the user’s computer that store information about their uses of the web and can be accessed from the servers of the Virtual Campus). Most browsers offer instructions to help you reject cookies, if that is your wish. If you reject cookies, some services of the Virtual Campus may have lower performance.
